LUCIANO MAZZETTI

CURRICULUM VITAE

Luciano Mazzetti was born in Perugia on 24/11/1941. He has a degree in Education from the Universit� La Sapienza di Roma. He started his academic carrier in 1971 at the Universit� degli Studi di Perugia.

After working in several Italian Universities (Universit� degli Studi di Perugia, Universit� La Sapienza di Roma, Universit� di Roma Tre, I.S.E.F. di Perugia, Facolt� di Medicina e Chirurgia di Perugia, Corso di Laurea in Scienze Motorie) he worked in the faculty of� Education, in particular "Scienze della Formazione", at the Universit� di Roma Tre.

Prof. Luciano Mazzetti's professional activities have been developed in two different international directions.

These have included a thirty year collaboration with UNICEF - New York and� UNICEF-Italy. This coincides with a twenty year collaboration with the "International Montessori Movement".

Activities with UNICEF:

� He is a member and professional consultant for the "National Consultancy for Educational Development� of� Unicef" (United Nation Fund for Childhood);

� He teaches in the Multidisciplinary University Courses of Education for Development offered by UNICEF at the Universities of �Cagliari, Lecce, Padova, Pisa, Roma, Sassari, Torino, Trieste, Udine, Pescara, Teramo, Milano;

� For 15 years he has been responsible for projects involving UNICEF- New York and in Developmental Education in Latin America;

� He is responsible for the project "New Spain" at the University U.N.A.M. in Mexico City;

Participation in the Montessori Movement:

� He is President of the International Montessori Center in Perugia which has been affiliated from 1987 until 2002;

� He is member of the Scientific Committee of "Childhood�s Life" monthly magazine of Opera Nazionale Montessori, Di Renzo Editor, Rome;

� He has taken part as teacher in the permanent activity of Montessori Educators like congress, seminars, workshops organized by Associations and International Montessori Centers as follows:

Activities in scientific research:

� Prof. Mazzetti is a member of the Health Education Laboratory at the Facolt� di Scienze della Formazione , Dipartimento di Scienze dell�Educazione of the Universit� di Roma Tre;

� he is a member of the Childhood�s Literature� Laboratory of at the Facolt� di Scienze della Formazione dell�Universit� di Roma Tre;

� Since 1974 he has taken part in 23 research projects financed by several corporations (Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione e dell�Universit�, CNR, ecc.) on subjects from the attached bibliography.

For the research activity for UNICEF and for the Montessori International Movement:

� From 1990 to 1996 he took part in the campaign promoted by UNICEF- Italy and the Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione sulla Convenzione ONU on the Rights of Infancy, a research project whose results are in an essay �Culture of Infancy", La Nuova Italia, Firenze, 1997;

� During several missions for UNICEF- Italy and for several University in U.S.A., Mexico, Per�, China, Japan, he documented an anthropological and cultural key - materials and experience published in �Vagabondaggi sulle tracce dell�educazione�, Anicia, Roma, 1994;
